The festival deity Chidambarathandavar, positioned in the second stage sanctum, is designed to have four hands. One hand holds a weapon light ax (mazhu in Tamil) and the second hand holds an idol of deer, the third and fourth hands display Varada and Abhaya mudras. The combined display of both the mudras represents the sustenance functions. The weapon symbolizes, eliminating the negative energy of devotees. The four legs of the idol deer represent the four Vedas.<\/p>\n

The symbolic representation of the deity reveals that he would bestow boons and answer the prayers of devotees to unlock the doors of the wisdom of sameness and prevent the delusion of pride. The deity also represents a gesture of fearlessness, a gesture of reassurance, dispels fear and gives divine protection to devotees.<\/p>\n
